Introduction and Syllabus

The UG-CLAT 2026 would focus on evaluating the comprehension and reasoning skills and abilities of candidates. Overall, it is designed to be a test of aptitude and skills that are necessary for a legal education rather than prior knowledge, though prior knowledge occasionally may be useful to respond to questions in the Current Affairs including General Knowledge section.

The UG-CLAT 2026 shall be a 2-hour test, with 120 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. There shall be negative marking of 0.25 marks for every wrong answer. These questions would be divided across the following 5 subjects:

• English Language
• Current Affairs, including General Knowledge
• Legal Reasoning
• Logical Reasoning
• Quantitative Techniques

English Language

In this section of the UG-CLAT 2026, you will be provided passages of about 450 words each. These passages will be derived from contemporary or historically significant fiction and non-fiction writing, and would be of a standard that a 12th standard student may be able to read in about 5-7 minutes.

Each passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require you to demonstrate your comprehension and language skills, including your abilities to:

• Read and comprehend the main point discussed in the passage, as well as any arguments and viewpoints discussed or set out in the passage;
• Draw inferences and conclusions based on the passage;
• Summarise the passage;
• Compare and contrast the different arguments or viewpoints set out in the passage; and
• Understand the meaning of various words and phrases in the context that they are used in the passage.

Current Affairs Including General Knowledge

In this section, you will be provided passages of up to 450 words each. The passages will be derived from news, journalistic sources and other non-fiction writing. The questions may include an examination of legal information or knowledge discussed in or related to the passage, but would not require any additional knowledge of the law beyond the passage.

Each passage will be followed by a series of questions that will require you to demonstrate your awareness of various aspects of current affairs and general knowledge, including:

• Contemporary events of significance from India and the world;
• Arts and culture;
• International affairs; and
• Historical events of continuing significance.

Legal Reasoning

In this section, you will be expected to read passages of around 450 words each. The passages may relate to fact situations or scenarios involving legal matters, public policy questions or moral philosophical enquiries. You will not require any prior knowledge of law to attempt the questions in this section. You will benefit from a general awareness of contemporary legal and moral issues to better apply general principles or propositions to the given fact scenarios.

Each passage would be followed by a series of questions that will require you to:

• Identify and infer the rules and principles set out in the passage;
• Apply such rules and principles to various fact situations; and
• Understand how changes to the rules or principles may alter their application to various fact situations.

Logical Reasoning

The Logical Reasoning section of the UG-CLAT 2026 will include a series of short passages of about 450 words each. Each passage will be followed by one or more questions that will require you to:

• Recognise an argument, its premises and conclusions;
• Read and identify the arguments set out in the passage;
• Critically analyse patterns of reasoning, and assess how conclusions may depend on particular premises or evidence, and how conclusions may be strengthened or weakened as a consequence of an alteration in premises or supporting facts;
• Infer what follows from the passage and apply these inferences to new situations;
• Draw relationships and analogies, identify contradictions and equivalence, and assess the effectiveness of arguments.

Quantitative Techniques

The Quantitative Techniques section of the UG-CLAT 2026 will include short sets of facts or propositions, or other textual representations of numerical information, followed by a series of questions. You will be required to derive information from the passages or questions, and apply mathematical operations on such information.

The questions will require you to:

• Derive, infer, and manipulate numerical information set out in such passages; and
• Apply various 10th standard mathematical operations on such information, including from areas such as ratios and proportions, basic algebra, mensuration and statistical estimation.

Preparing for the UG-CLAT 2025-26

The Consortium plans to publish various preparatory materials for the UG-CLAT 2026, including:

• Guides to the question paper and sample questions;
• Model question papers; and
• Instructional materials and exercises for each of the subjects that the UG-CLAT 2025-26 comprises.

The Consortium will also provide candidates who have successfully completed their application to the UG-CLAT 2026 access to a learning platform where you may access the preparatory materials described above, as well as your scores on various exercises and model question papers. The Consortium shall also organise online sessions for such candidates, in which subject experts shall provide guidance on how best to prepare for each of the sections of the UG-CLAT 2026, and how candidates may approach the questions in each section.

In addition, you should develop your capacity to read and understand bodies of text, ensure you stay abreast of news and current affairs by regularly reading quality newspapers and periodicals, and improve your speed of answering questions on quantitative techniques by practising with materials such as 10th standard mathematics textbooks.

CLAT UG 2025-26 Question Format

3. Multiple-Choice Questions: 120 questions of one mark each
4. Negative Marking: 0.25 Mark for each wrong answer

CLAT UG Exam Eligibility

1. There is no upper age limit for candidates appearing for UG Programme through the CLAT 2026.
2. Candidates who have passed in 10+2 or an equivalent examination with a minumum of:
1. Forty five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent in grade or
2. Forty Percent (40%) of marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.
3. Candidates appearing for the qualifying examination in 2025 are also eligible to apply. However, they shall be required to produce an evidence of their passing the qualifying examination at the time of admission, failing which they shall lose their right to be considered for admission.
4. The result of the qualifying examination (i.e., 10+2) shall be submitted by the candidate at the time of admission, failing which the candidate shall be ineligible for admission to the course they may have applied for.
5. If more than one candidate secures an equal number of marks in the CLAT 2026, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under:
1. Higher marks in the component/section on Legal Aptitude in the CLAT 2026 exam;
2. Higher age;
3. Computerised draw of lots

Symbiosis Law Entrance Test 2026- Overview

Candidates aspiring to join any of the following:

• B.A LL. B (Hons)
• B.B.A LL. B (Hons)
• B.A LL. B
• B.B.A LL. B

Programmes offered by institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University) have to appear for the common, mandatory Computer Based Test (CBT). This is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode across various cities of India.

If a candidate appears for more than one test, the higher score will be considered for the final percentile calculation. There will be no normalization. A rigorous process that has been statistically tested will be administered to ensure that unique types of questions are framed under a specific topic across the question papers. The normal spread will ensure that there is no unfair advantage to candidates who opt for any specific test / multiple tests. This will ensure the normalisation of the spread of questions across sections. Furthermore, the question papers will be normalised for the level of difficulty across all two tests. No correspondence regarding this will be entertained.

A candidate needs to register for SLAT 2026 & also register for the institutes offering his/ her choice of programmes by paying separate programme registration fees. If shortlisted, he/she would then need to attend the further admission process conducted by each of these institutes individually.

Candidates are fully and solely responsible to provide correct information during the application process. If it is found that any information provided by the candidate at the time of filling/submitting the application form is not true, SIU has the right to cancel the application or admission, at any stage, in accordance with its rules and regulations. Any direct or indirect attempt to influence the management and employees of the Institute will lead to automatic disqualification of the candidate.

All India Law Entrance Test – 2026

Entrance Test (AILET) Scheme:

The syllabus of AILET 2026 for UG Programme is as follows:

• The AILET 2026 for UG programme will have three (3) sections of 150 multiple choice questions for 150 marks in total. The duration of the examination is 120 minutes.
• The three sections will be:
  Section A: English Language (50 questions; 50 marks).
  Section B: Current Affairs & General Knowledge (30 questions; 30 marks).
  Section C: Logical Reasoning (70 questions; 70 marks).
  Legal principles may be used in the logical reasoning section to test logical aptitude but the examination will not require any kind of legal knowledge or technical understanding.
• Negative marking: There will be Negative Marking in AILET 2026. The criteria for negative marking will be based on the formula 0.25*4=1 that means per wrong answer 0.25 Marks will be deducted. Therefore, four wrong answers will lead to deduction of 1 Mark.
• If two or more candidates get the same marks at the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET), their merit will be determined on the basis of higher marks in the section on LOGICAL REASONING in the AILET 2026.
• If the merit is still same, then the candidate senior in age shall get preference. If still there is no change in merit, then computerized draw of lots shall be taken into consideration.

Eligibility for Admission

• All candidates, other than those applying under the Foreign Nationals category, should appear for the All India Law Entrance Test (AILET) and selection shall be solely on that basis. The Foreign National and OCI/PIO candidates are also required to apply online on the same portal.
• Candidate have passed the Higher Secondary School Examination (10+2) system or an equivalent examination thereto securing in the aggregate not less than 45% of the total marks (42% in case of OBC's and 40% for SC/ST/Person with Disability).  The Eligibility condition for admission of students under the Foreign Nationals Category shall be 65% marks in the Higher Secondary School Examination of (10+2) system or an equivalent examination.
• Candidates appearing/awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also apply and appear in the Entrance Test. However, the eligibility by such candidates shall have to be obtained by the cut-off date, which will be notified along with the Notification of Entrance Test result and in case such candidate is placed in compartment in the year of the admission, would be treated as ineligible.
• The admission of foreign nationals shall be made based on satisfying the prescribed academic qualifications. The candidates who possess citizenship of a country other than India and hold valid passport shall be eligible to apply under this category. They are exempted from taking the admission test. The other regulations regarding the eligibility for admission will be the same as applicable to the other candidates.
• The candidates belonging to Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO) category may apply under the OCI/PIO category as well as under the category of Indian students separately (They have to submit the two different application forms i.e. one for India National and another for OCI/PIO category). In case the OCI/PIO candidates apply under the category of Indian National, they have to appear in the All Indian Law Entrance Test along with other Indian students.
• The merit of the Foreign National and OCI/PIO Category will be drawn on the basis of percentage of marks in the qualifying exam.
• The unfilled seats under Foreign National and OCI/PIO will be carried over to General Category and filled on AILET Merit.

• Definition of Foreign Nationals: The candidates who possess citizenship of a country other than India and hold valid passport of foreign country.
• Definition of Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)/Person of Indian Origin (PIO): As notified by the Govt. of India.

The CUET PG 2025 exam will be scheduled to be conducted online starting from the 2nd week of March 2025. AILET 2025

The AILET 2025 is a national-level law entrance test conducted by the Army Institute of Law, Mohali for admission of candidates to undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level law programs. The exam is held in online mode at the allotted exam centers. To apply for the AIL LET 2025 exam, candidates have to register on the university’s official website at ail.ac.in. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria are only eligible to apply for the exam.

The AIL LET 2025 exam will be conducted online at the allotted centers by AIL Mohali. The exam consists of 200 multiple-choice questions based on General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Law Aptitude, English Comprehension, and Mental Aptitude.

The AIL Mohali will provide the exam pattern of the AIL LET 2025 exam accompanied by the admission notification. The AIL LET BA LLB question paper consists of 200 multiple-choice questions based on English, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Law Aptitude, Mental Ability. Each question is awarded 1 mark and there is no penalty for an incorrect answer.

MH CET 2025
